Shanky❤Salty
Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.
I’m reading bible from this source Bible Hub
Is it true that we don’t have life if we are not eating the flesh of the son of man and drink his blood?
Is this humanity ?
Kindly clear my doubts about this phrase in the comments below.

I have come to know so much of my life that life makes me cry as much as death. Have you heard that this world laughs when no one has anything, if someone has everything, this world is longing for what I have, this world. Whatever I am, I belonged to my beloved Mahadev. What should I say about myself? Gradually you will know everything.

  1. I come from a Christian/Catholic background. What you highlighted here does make you go “hmmmmm” for sure. I think there might be a parallel between words and food like Krista said. The communion in a Catholic church mass is a ritual that we are supposed to believe we are eating and drinking the flesh and blood of Christ. I can remember as a child nearly passing out thinking about that too much! I now live without any religious labels.

  2. Later in that scripture, Jesus talks about him being the flesh and blood. Jesus often spoke in parables and we weren’t to take things literally. We were to discern the underlying spiritual meaning. Like when he says eyes to see and ears to hear. It’s to discern spiritual things. Since he’s talking about himself, I believe he means faith in himself. It’s like the saying being born again. You are not literally physically born again. Your spirit is born anew. We are invited to have a relationship with Jesus and when we do this, our needs are met. So he is paralleling our need for food and drink to our spiritual needs. Just like the woman at the well when he said he would give her living water and she would thirst no more. He didn’t mean physically never thirst. He meant spiritually.

    1. Sure, he always used enigmatic statements that recquire wisdom to interpret. Shallow minds cannot digest his words right away. Thank you for elaborating this for him. It cannot be cannibalism.

  3. Wow. Shanky, I am glad that you are reading the Bible. It’s the most fascinating book in the world. It has been thoroughly criticized and checked by the great scholars from the religious and non religious groups. You have made the correct interpretation from its face value. It does appear as if Jesus is instructing the audience to eat him. I think it would be an to interpret it that way. We know that Jesus was alive when he uttered those words. He was not eaten that day or any day until his ascension. These are the hard words he spoke to the fake disciples. After listening to that kind of conversation, the fake ones left him. His 12 disciples remained faithful till the end.
It has a spiritual interpretation. Jesus is called the lamb of God. He typifies the Passover Seder. During the old days they would have to eat the flesh of the lamb. This lamb saved the life of those who applied his blood to their door posts.
In the new testament, eating Jesus body and blood has a spiritual meaning. It simply means to accept the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on our behalf.
It’s like accepting (consuming) the fact that Jesus Christ died for my sin is what he implied when he said that unless you eat.
Today Jesus is not visible with the body so how can you eat him?

    1. Seriously I don’t like this book. In this book there are lot’s of meaning less stuffs are written. Someone told me that “shallow minds can’t digest his words”. If it is true then why should deep minded people read bible???
Tell me why church’s fight with HIV. And why Catholics has started conversion classes???

      1. Oh dear. I am so sorry for what the people who you seem to read have troubled anyone. But, where I live we are trying to practice what we understand. The stuff that’s not understood is understood by many scholars. I don’t have problems with you if you don’t like it. It’s perfectly fine. I am a Bible believing person. I am not catholic, so I can’t defend them. I found it very helpful. I do seriously study and follow it. Thanks for bringing up this critical analysis of the Bible. I hope I have added some value to this conversation. Regards dear friend.
